The Challenge


Founded in 2005 Remembering Our Friends Memorial was created to remember Second Life Residents that had passed away in First Life. In 2007 Sections were added for First Life Friends and Family that had passed away that were never in Second Life. Personalized Memorial plaques with scripted gas lamps are provided free to remember those that have passed away.

Our Solution


The current SIM was expertly designed and built in a forest theme, with beautiful buildings, gathering places, lakes, gardens and quiet areas for peaceful contemplation. The entire SIM is circled by a path for strolling, biking or horseback riding.

Virtual World Consultants' staff and contractors provide a complete suite of services including: SIM Development, business consulting, event planning, marketing, Staff recruiting and management, financial services and fund raising.

Results


Remembering Our Friends Memorial has been a successful and honored project and community in Second Life for over six years. The results from VWC team's involvement include:

  • Raised over $5000 USD in Relay for Life for Cancer 2009-2011.
  • Voted as The Residents’ Choice Awards best Memorial for The German Grid in 2009.
  • Awarded Relay For Life's best designed campsite on Relay weekend.
  • Chosen by Linden Lab in 2010 and 2011 as a SL Showcase destination
  • Invited by Linden Lab as the hosting venue for many events on SL's Day of Remembrance 2010 and 2011.
  • Provided cash donations to several support groups in the Virtual World as well as Real Life.
  • Created hundreds of memorials to remember loved ones who have passed away.
  • Raised over $1500 USD in Relay for Life for Cancer 2009, in only four weeks.
  • Brought the National Multiple Sclerosis Society , Michigan Chapter into Second Life in 2009, and raised over 500 US dollars for the cause.
  • Host of International Missing Children's Day in SL in 2010.
  • Successfully Created a working Online Community for over 5 years. (ROF Memorial Group)
